Parish Sacramental Celebrations

Baptism

The celebration of Baptism usually takes place on the fourth Sunday of every month at 2:15 P.M. in the Church. In order that parents may have a better appreciation and a more updated understanding of Baptism, they are required to attend as instruction before the scheduled date of Baptism. The instruction takes place on the previous Friday at 7:45 P.M. in the Church Meeting Room. Arrangements for this instruction must be made in advance by both parents at the rectory. Please be aware that Baptisms are not scheduled during the Lenten Season e.g., Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday.

Spanish Baptisms are celebrated on a quarterly basis [once every 3 months]. The schedule can be obtained from the rectory.

The Eucharist

The Eucharist is the center of our parish life. The Eucharistic celebration is “the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed…it is the fountain from which all her power flows.” (Vatican Council II – Decree on the Liturgy). In the Sunday Liturgy, we gather as God’s people – a local community of faith – to praise and thank God for our salvation in Christ. Your participation in our worship is important to us. We encourage you to join us around the Lord’s table.

Penance

We celebrate this Sacrament on Saturdays from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon in the Reconciliation Room located within – and adjacent to – the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. In addition, a communal celebration of this Sacrament takes place during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Please be aware that individuals may also call the Rectory and make an appointment to celebrate the Sacrament at a mutually convenient time for both the penitent and confessor.

Confirmation

This Sacrament is celebrated during late Spring in our parish. Anyone who is in the seventh grade, or older, may contact the Catechetical Center (Religious Education Office) – 533-7898 – in September, and arrange for preparations to receive this Sacrament.

Marriage

Christian marriage is a lifelong commitment in faith, that speaks to us about the love a man and a woman have for one another and how this union is enriched by their faith. Marriage takes preparation. Parishioners who would like to wed at Resurrection-Ascension Church should call the rectory at least six months before their planned date and schedule an appointment with any of the priests. One prerequisite, or “requirement”, is attendance at a Pre-Cana program.

The Sacrament of the Sick

Holy Communion and the Anointing of the Sick are the fundamental Sacraments of the sick. The anointing, in particular, is celebrated with the faithful whose health may be seriously impaired because of sickness, or old age. This Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is held on Saturdays at the 9: 00 A.M. Mass for those who are expected to be admitted to the hospital. Please call the rectory in advance to arrange for an anointing.
